About This Blog
Hi!
One of the most meaningful aspects of this project for me is the opportunity to engage with others and share my interest in criminal justice through various forms of media - this blog being one of them. Writing here gives me a chance to hopefully spark conversation.
While criminal justice is a broad field, I’m especially interested in the financial aspect that often goes unnoticed. Monetary sanctions - fines, fees, restitution, and court costs - are deeply embedded in the justice system and can have long-lasting effects on individuals and families. These financial penalties may seem like minor bureaucratic details, but they can determine whether someone can afford groceries, maintain stable housing, or avoid deeper involvement with the legal system. In some cases, debt related to these sanctions is even passed down across generations, creating cycles of financial instability.
I believe these issues deserve more attention, not just from academics or policymakers, but from anyone who cares about fairness, equity, and the real-world impact of our legal systems.
That said, my curiosity doesn’t stop at finance. I'm equally drawn to how the justice system intersects with healthcare, mental health, public policy, ethics, and human rights. Whether we’re looking at prison conditions, access to care, or the role of legislation in shaping lived experiences, there’s always more to examine - more voices that need to be heard.
My hope is that this blog becomes a space for honest, informed, and collaborative dialogue. Whether you’re here to learn, share your thoughts, or challenge assumptions, I hope that this is a space where you feel comfortable and just enjoyable enough to take a peek at at your leisure.
